    Hi makroben

Disavow Backlink's is really an advance feature, it should harm to your website serp result if you should perform this in a wrong way, by following simple step's you may easily Disavow spammy backlink's linked to your site, As you mentioned ; you already exported all the spammy backlink's into excel..

Now the next step to follow is to go to the webmaster tools home page and select the site which you want to perform disvaw.
Just Click disvow Link's and Choose the file and replace the previous to new one..

Totally agreed with Davidnrog, Check for the links which have got 0 PR or N/A, secondly find out those sites that end with .ru for example: abc.ru these links are from Russian network which is really dangerous,If you brought paid links check twice whether they are good or not and really helping to boost the ranking, then stop building links on the site for some period of time until an unless all the disallow links that you have filtered gets removed.Be ready to fall down on SERP's as you are getting the links removed from your site so there will be impact in your site as well.May be the domain trust will get down. After doing all these activities you can start again

I wouldn't just go for the PR 0 sites. Some websites might not have a PR, but still not be harmful, such as new blogs etc. Identifying bad links is something which does take a lot of time, though. Basically, I wouldn't recommend to just take a list of backlinks, sort by PR and disavow them. For instance, have a look at each backlink's anchor text. Google does recognise whether or not the anchor texts look over-optimised. You should also have a brief look at each website's content: Is this a website you'd like to link back to you or rather not? In case you come across some Public Relations or affiliate websites, make sure their links are nofollow - if they are not, disavow. Big Public Relations or affiliate websites may do very well PR-wise, so you might not be able to identify them when just looking for low PR sites when reviewing your backlink profile.

Ever heard of Link Research Tools? They do have a Link Detox Tool. It's quite costly though, but it might help you to prioritise your links within a short amount of time. It crawls all of your backlinks and prioritises them according to their algorithm, so you know which ones to disavow first. Though I'd never trust a tool's algorithm, this one seems to be pretty accurate, and it helped me a great deal recently when dealing with a client's website to prevent from penalisation.

I would just disavow everything and start over.

Sorry for hijacking your thread, but I have a site thats never ranked. It has some okay links pointing at it (according to linkquidator) and not at risk of a penalty. However, my anchor text is all messed. I have a 49% main keyword, 30% brand, and the rest is a mix. Should I just disavow everything and start from scratch because I really haven't done any ranking with this.
