[help needed] .com.au domain for PBN purpose

Purchased a few .com.au domains and forfeited by godaddy after failed to provide it correct ABN.

After talked to Australian authority which in charge of domain registration, I was advised it is only allowed to register business-related domain (

)

my question is: if I register a computer-related ABN, and purchase bunch of .com.au domains, will domain registra company such as Godaddy accept it ? because as an IT company, it will apply for domain on behalf of its clients and can possibly apply for any domains covering all businesses.

Anyone has solutions?

BTW: godaddy service is

, after I informed them I want to update my ABN, they cancelled my domain straightaway without any hesitation and communication. highly recommended to stay away its service.

Why don't you try some registrars in Australia? Those are the top 3, by domains they have registered. GoDaddy has a small market share there.

The allocation rules relating to registration of Australian domain names changed some years ago. You can now register multiple Australian domain names under certain conditions. You can register an exact match, abbreviation, and/or acronym of your organisation name, trading name, or trademark. You may also register additional Australian domain names that reflect your: brands, products, services, venue, events, activities, professions or trademarks.

thanks for this info and I also realised "If someone wanted the domain you owned, and they believe your ABN was not eligible to own the domain they can submit an AuDA complaint against the domain ".
Does it mean even I bought a domain through a competitive auction, other people can still report me to AuDA to deregister this domain, in this sense is .com.au domain be of any value for PBN?

Yes, the same applies to other registrars too. If the data is incorrect or you shouldn't be eligible to register that domain, anyone can make a complaint. If I were you, I'll try and register 2-3 domains first, and wait 1-2 months, before building anything on them. Also, some registrars have bots to check the content posted on the websites, and it might trigger a manual review.

If you're Australian, all you should need is an ABN, which is free and easy for Australians to register through the ATO (IIRC).

it is risky to go to auction to get valuable .com.au domain then, as it might blow away my money easily.

your domains will be deleted soon if you can't verified your ABN via the address accompanied. You have to build a Canada business to register .ca domains. Or get some helps from a Canadian; however, may be no one will help you if they don't have a very closed relationship with you and know what you will do with the domains. They can be arrested for up to 5 years from mistakes caused by you.

That is the reason why there are so many good expired .ca domains if you search for them using a tool.

I lost bitcoin.com.au because of godaddy, and i have many other .com.au names but i never use go daddy because i have enough companies and ventures that i have been able to find clean methods (and dirty for those that dont have companies but want to get that name and keep it ) to keep them.

Rule 1 NO GODADDY
RUle 2 some people already gave some good options for registrars, the best type of option is actually also something like macaria.com which charges you basically for them giving that info and in the end you end up with bam the domain with everything in order, i think they are a bit pricey if its multiple domains that are for pbn but not for something like bitcoin.com,au

and i have more ways on this if u want to pm me OR i also have .com.au in my portfolio that i may be able to part with or just give them to you i have to check

Regarding .com.au registrations, you need to have a demonstrated business need/link to the domain. Easiest way to do that is to set up a site on that domain, either with ads/affiliate/other method of selling something - eg guest posts?. Once you've got that, then it's related to your business and a single company that buys and develops a bunch of web sites is fine.

Bigger issue with .com.au for PBN use is that there's no private whois in Australia, so Google can easily see that all of your sites are owned by the same company name and ABN. Huge footprint.

thanks for your kind advise and I gave up my .com.au domains after talking to regulators and it is a fruitless effort to set up a pbn by using .com.au.

I assume you have to have registered business in AU to be able to apply for those domains. Not sure if you have to be resident of Australia.
Better to get valid registrar and check/ask those questions there.

If you are not Australian - goodluck. The AuDa are incredibly strict.

Sorry mate but our domains, our rules.

You could try paying an Australian (like me) to use our ABN but it will ultimately depend on what kind of site you are running.
