Hi guys I need help,

I will launch a new blog soon and I am confused about www and naked URLs. Some says naked is better for shorter urls, some says including "www". for formality, authentic, etc. Can you help me choose what is the best?

Sites who uses www:
Google
Facebook
Blackhatworld

Sites who uses naked URL:
Twitter
Moz
Gtmetrix

It's the same thing, you can add www. in front of domains that dont use it and it will take you to the same domain.

all my sites are without www, i think it just looks better that way

Use www Is Good!!

Yeah, I heard "www" is very good especially with authority sites. Thanks for recommendation

I agree also with you Lauriat, naked URLs have better looks and far more shorter than its counterpart. Thanks for recommendation

It does not matter from what I've read. Depends on how long the URL is. For long ones I like naked. For short ones you can use the extra legnth www gives you.

You should be using HTTPS though regardless...

It doesnt matter, pick whatever you are comfortable with but then try redirecting the other to ensure everything going to the same destination

Thanks Asif!

Sorry for not using the search function first. Anyway thank you for the help as you provided nice collection of resources to that post.

Google doesn't care as long as you have a canonical domain i.e you're letting it know that you want either the www or the non-www version indexed - that way you don't get duplicate content penalty.

In reality, www is actually a subdomain of your main domain :0)

there was a point where i was stuck, and sometimes i still don't know which to go for, but in the end it doesnt even matter. Except for certain part where the speed is concerned.

I used to be very fussy about it, because adding www will add a round trip to find the root unless the A record is pointed at both the root and www. But meh, after awhile i gave up because i don't have the time to do speed test anymore.

Both are fine, but I prefer www.

Personally I don't see the point in using the www.

It doesn't have the same recognition that it used to.

Man! its like naming your newborn. it all depends on you. but once you go for it , stick to that.
