Hello everyone,
I am starting a new journey today and I can use all the help I can get :D, like every other person around the world I want to start a gaming channel but my skills in SEO are not the greatest, I know the gaming niche is flooded, This is where you come in haha any tips, tricks and or advice would be great

Reverse Engineer Content:

Download The Chrome Extension: VidIQ

1) Find a handful of competitor's channels that have a moderate sized subscriber base (make sure they aren't the big dawg in the niche).
- Do this by using the related channel feature on the right side panel of a YouTube channel page.
- Copy the URL to a spreadsheet
2) Now look through the videos of each channel
- Go straight to the bottom and start at their OLDEST videos if possible
3) Scroll up through their videos and look for one that performed significantly better than their adjacent videos.
- Click through each high performing video and copy the URL to a spreadsheet... DON'T watch the video (it's so easy to get lost in the Tube that is YouTube)
- Look in the top right corner of the YouTube page and you'll see stats given by VidIQ. Check their Views/hr stat to get an idea of how it’s performing organically. I aim for videos with 1 + View/hr but what is good depends on your monetization strategy and industry.
- If the video isn't performing to your standards. Delete it from the list

MINING THEIR KEYWORDS: Amassing a Keyword List
You should now have a good sized list of high performing videos that got a significant amount of views despite the channel not having a huge subscriber base. Time to reverse engineer these!

1) Create a New spreadsheet for each video you analyze
2) Copy and Paste the title of the video
3) Look at the Keyword tag area of VidIQ and record any variations they are tagging with.
- VidIQ will show you an estimate of their position for each keyword tag they have! Make specially note of this as these, along with the title keywords are the hot keywords you want to be targeting.

There is a lot more to add but that is the first thing I'd do. Create a big list of content ideas. Then start producing!

I'm making a video detailing all of this so shoot me a message/follow me if you want to be notified when it's published.

Cheers

Yeah gaming niche is flooded but if you can research and find some game that are booming then you can have a chance.
Check trends daily and see if you can find any specific game on that list for several days. Reverse engineer smaller and bigger channels.
