I have read many journeys about authority sites in BHW . Me and my friends decided to start an authority site. The contents will be outsourced + written by me and friends.

We have about 5000$ budget on this this project (1000$ each ) :D

But we haven't decided on which broad niche to start with. We are still newbies and We need the help of kind hearted BHW members.

These are the niches most of know to write about
1.Health
3.Beauty
4.lifestyle
5.Make money and carriers,jobs
6.Home decor and house hold tips

Which one these would be safe and easy to build and rank?
Do we need to break them like games into ps4,xbox,android etc and choose one from those?

They are all still pretty competitive niches though, i.e difficult to rank.

I know those are some highly saturated ones. Since we are going for authority sites,we need to face that competition.
Lets see what others have to say :)
 
We will be outsourcing 20% contents and writing the other 80%.
We are looking forward to adding about 1000 articles/6 months.
 
Generating traffic from SEO (ranking) is a slow process with many uncertainties. Work on other traffic sources as well. buzzfeed makes 120 million dollars in 2014 with 90% of traffic from social media.

Social media is a good way to get traffic.
I saw this idea on another journey about authority sites.
I have so many facebook pages.I used to make pages since I started using facebook.Many of them have more than 100k likes and i havetwitter account with 1000+ followers. I will be using them for driving in traffic. :)

OK, here are the things you need to avoid first.

- The best options are insurance/loan and health.

Payout is top on these niches.
And with that kind of budget, you can easily rank your websites.

$5,000 on a any major niche you listed might get you in the top 100 SERPS if spent very wisely and not on anything but SEO attempts hope you guys have a lot of time to create content because it's not in the budget
 
6th one is easy to rank,so you can try on it
 
I would go with HOME DECOR as a proving grounds because that's kind of easy to rank. Plus you can make tons of sales during holidays. Once you rank and have experience on SEO, you can go into difficult niche like HEALTH.

Kinda like playing in the arcades. You take on the beginners and the intermediates first and then when you have enough experience and skills, you take on the big boys.
