Help me understand the algorithm, content / lenght

Ok so honestly I think all these story about content lenght as ranking factor is one of the biggest bullshit ever made but hey, it’s here so please help me understand.

let’s say Bob have a videogame site and he want to write a post about how fix bug on a fallout quest (yeah Bob is fictional but Fallout is one of my favorite game and it have a lot of bugs so…) but explain it would require just 200/300 words. With an intro and same stupid shit let’s say a total of 400/500 words.

Now, he could guide you through the quest + fix but it would be still something like 700/800 words. Probably repeating partially something already explained in a post with all the quest chain (is these ok btw?).

So he could explain how fix the bug in the post that explain all the quest chain (1700+ words). Let’s say that he go with these option. Does the blog post, that is about all the quest chain, will rank for people that are looking specifically with kws to fix the bug in the X quest? Sound crazy to me that i may be looking for that and I’ll have to go through all the article but let me know.

what about the other option partially repeating same content?

Couldn't agree more.

I think, 500 words are fine... you can add an image + featured snippet text so in total you'll have 600-700 words... for me, it's more than enough to answer a simple question.

I personally write to the point and only add some related content if it is needed and I rank fine. I also find stretching the content to thousands of words just to make it look better a stupid idea.

I have a couple of articles that are 4000+ words and they still couldn't rank on page number 1 as there are several factors for ranking.
