Hi,

Since august 2010 it looks like i'm stuck in a google dance and till today it is still dancing me up and down in the rankings. For few days i'm at position #2 - #5 and then I drop again to position #300 - #400 for my main keyword. Sometimes it takes a bit longer sometimes shorter, but this is going on from august 2010 till right now.

It is a foreign adult related wordpress site, which gets updated few times a week with new fresh posts. I use an rss feed and rewrite the content. I started linkbuilding in august using Senuke, first I did some linkwheels. Article/blogs as tier1 and forum profiles and social bookmarks as Tier2 linking also to eachother. Since a 1,5 month i'm doing only link pyramids, also tier1 articles/blogs and tier2 profiles/social bookmarks.

Is this normal behavior? Can a google dance seriously takes this long? Anyone has similar epxeriences?

did you by any chance made a backlink in the wrong URL? if yes do a 301 from that one to the home page, wait a few and the problem will be gone

Hard to say, in those months I made tons of backlinks. Maybe I did by mistake a backlink to domain com instead of www domain com.

If I look in google webmaster tools I don't see any HTML suggestions or 404's. The preferred URL is not set in webmaster tools, I could set this too www domain com and redirect domain com with a 301 to the www

I am in the similar situation for one of my projects, 2-3 months down, 2-3 months top, and again. I agree with one the previous comments, actually before my website was build over dynamic URLs and I apply mod_rewrite for SEF URLs and the nightmare started. However, I end up selling the website and I returned my investment.
