Make videos that are engaging from beginning to end. Youtube's 'watch algorith' uses watch time as a metric to determine a video's relevance. Encourage user engagement, either by suggesting that users leave a comment or share if they liked the video. Optimize your titles, metas, and thumbnails. You could also connect your video with Playlists as they can lead to longer view times and sessions in Youtube.

Everyone says more views/likes, engagement, but there has to be more to it then that, I've been suggested videos with little to no views...

Clickbait title , thumbnail and similiar tags,It doesn't always work.It all depends what the viewer watched and searched on Youtube before but its more factors to it.

try to do same thumbnails, use same tags, use same parts of their titles in your title and etc
