Help me LAND THIS LAWYER!!!!

this is a great thread.... i am wondering also how it went... my friend and i are in the middle of getting our SEO services business together and i already have lists of potential clients in different niches... reading all this advice helped me out also.. please update us

I worked with numerous attorneys on a regular basis and in the past had a number of them as technology customers. Remember each of you belong to a priesthood your's being technology. Lawyers can be tough customers so always take the initiative and be in charge. If some campaign does not work out as expected be proactive in offering either a remedy or a solution. Don't hang back! This will be appreciated by any customer but particularly lawyers.

well i had to re-schedule the appt because i had to drive back home for an emergency but i have another one next week with the lawyer, since the start of this thread i got two auto shops and a pizza spot, bartering. this lawyer would be nice

Be prepared to prove yourself. He may ask you a question or even a few questions that will trip you up. Remember, lawyers went to school to learn how to argue and to persuade people to his way of thinking. Think of him like a REALLY aggressive marketer that likes to argue. If you say that you're hot stuff, he may say something like "well everyone else says that too". Give him a good counter argument as to why everyone else is full of shit. Getting the business of a lawyer is often a battle of wits. Stand firm and be confident in your abilities and statements. You're going head to head intellectally with him, and if you both throw a couple of good debates...no matter how big or small or what it's about...you get the job. This may sound a little stereotypical....but it's true of EVERY lawyer I've ever met or come into contact with. I've used the tactic before. It works. Don't get too pushy though....and let him win. ;) good luck.

thanks guys one thing im worried about is lawyers dont really operate like a normal local business, they dont have upsells, emails lists, do they?

Not normally, but some are more "marketing-minded" than others. We collect emails at our firm, but the partners do nothing with them...Most attorneys don't even understand marketing, they just want to worry about the law...you'll be valuable to them with your services.
