HELP! Just got some work done from this designer. Is He Worth Future Business ?

Price seems a little too high after taking a look at his website. But still, take whatever advice you want and in the end, trust your instincts. If you feel like this guy is worth it then he probably is.
 
Slow, slow. Use guru or odesk and outsource that shiz to Pakistan if you really can't build it yourself.
 
The site was a horrible flash of flash. Also mystery meat navigation. But back to the topic.
If that 0.1 to 1% conversion increase is making your more than 250 bucks, go ahead, knock yourself out, hire him for all he's worth. That's the simple part. Now you gotta get into the mindset that anything that increases your net profit at the end of the month for months to come is good for your business. If you spend more money on the design, but get even more money into your coffers, you'd be poundstubid (intentional error) and pennywise, instead of poundwise and pennyfoolish.
 
I think it is hard to measure design "just like that". If I didn't watch / read the news, I wont pay $1 for Picasso but there are some people who would pay millions for his paintings. In the end, look at your conversion rate / how much money are you making with his graphics, is it worth it?

As for website creation, if he is going to make a website like his, then I can tell you it is not worth it. Stay away as far as possible from Flash. Get a hosting ($5 - $10 a month, even $3) would do, then install WordPress (free). You can also buy a premium theme (just googe it, probably cost around $30 - $50) and voila! You got yourself a professional like website with minimum costs.
 
His website is hosted on Australian Datacentres, hence why the slow loading to some users*.
Flash is okay, but I see he has changed his brand colours. He also has a decent SEO system setup.
As for his work, it is okay. He seems like he's still learning the basics but has a big adventure ahead of him, browny points for that. GSanders, I'd probably discuss with him about lowering the price for you a little, I think he would.

Site uptime is too slow, especially when it comes to designer site, it must be quick and user friendly, everything must be on go, as the visitor visits and knows the things and hire or contact with designer, So you must change your design and hosting both, go for some simple and unique style give the visitor the aesthetic sense that you are a designer and you are the best.
 
From his portfolio, I would not pay him $400 for a flyer. Why don't you try with other designers and see if you get maybe better results ?
 
Seriously his site is very slow and for $400, you can get same or maybe better design from BST.
