HELP! Just got some work done from this designer. Is He Worth Future Business ?

So I just recently got some graphic design work done with this guy from Australia.

I was just wondering if I got a good bang for my buck or is this considered overpricing? He did a great job and for the past few weeks I've had awesome conversion rates/leads from my flyers for my lawn care business. The content was no different. Usually I get a 0.1 percent response rate but after I got them professionally designed by a DIFFERENT designer (this australian dude) , my response rate for these flyers sky rocketed to 1 percent. Which is a huge increase and good goal in direct marketing for flyers especially.

Bottom line: he charged me $400 for design and usually I get it done from my old designer for $150.

He just recently started and is young. I don't know or not if that's $400 worth or not but he also charges $800 for website creation... which I am thinking of using if he's worth it judging from his site.. or i should just get it done for cheaper?

The reason I'm asking this question is because I'm pretty new to getting into this designing stuff and was wondering to ask you guys if its a good price and if i should continue to do business with him? Seemed pretty nice and cooperative with everything .. not to mention that the results were great. Just wondering if it was overpriced for the average graphic designing..

Really? Takes me 5-10 seconds at most. Could be internet connections.

What hosting are you using ? So slow loading

His website is a joke to me - who makes a website that loads that slow.

As far as price goes there is one designer on BHW who does really good work -- but he is in India (hard communication due to timezone) - you have to pay 100% upfront -- so if your client is flaky it is a risk to deal with him .. but I doubt you get better bang for the buck.

holy crap his website is horrible. My eyes are still in pain from that background color. I never even got to his portfolio.

As far as his work for you goes, if you made your money back then it was probably worth it.

Your site's home page has just one image, some graphics and on page load music.. and it took me around 30 secs to load.. trust me most of the visitors will leave without seeing your home page..
In my honest opinion, your designer s**ks for designing a site which loads by showing percentage of the page loaded.. Try to render your controls fast and make the page load speed to around 3-4 secs max if you want to see some visitors and conversions if any..

Just my 2 cents.

If you're getting the result you can get anywhere and you can afford his charges
then continue business with him until otherwise.

I downloaded the lord of the rings trilogy quicker than that site....Do him a deal he does your logos you built him a functional site. I cant imagine anyone staying with a site more than 2 seconds these days and as cool as flash can be for seo in general its dead

His portfolio is not that extensive. At least for his price. I remember when I was starting out as a designer (Art School Kid) I would never charge that much. Sometimes I would do ProBono work just to build a portfolio.

His work isn't that bad but not worth the price at the moment until he gets some experience under his belt. I am assuming your on this forum to make money and there are a ton of factors that come into place when your designing for marketing sakes to make money, which would be my only reservation about hiring a newb to design for me.
