help how can paypal find me

Hi, so I got screwed. I sold a set of aftermarket Spoon Sports wheels on ebay for $3200 and the buyer just up and said I sent him garbage. Paypal already sided with him despite my best efforts to prove he's lying but I did manage to get my $3200 out of the account along with my real bank info before it was limited by the dispute.


So I'm here asking, and having done research, wondering how paypal can find me seeing as I used a stealth account that had literally no real info on me except my bank account # (which has also since been closed as a precaution in case paypal got sticky fingers).


From what I've gathered, they can only get my address from my ISP through a court order, and only get my real info off my bank account # through a court order. Is this correct?


Normally, I wouldn't really worry at this point, but the buyer said he's filing a chargeback since paypal siding with him didn't get him his money back. And for that, he said he's filing a police report. So I'm wondering, will filing a police report make it simple for paypal to get a court order to get my real info? Now, even then I've done nothing wrong so I'm not worried, but it could turn into a real thing if I start getting hounded by debt collectors or worse, a cop shows up at my house. I suppose the return address on the package could be an easy way to find me but the buyer seems to be an idiot, since he's already threatened me using what he thinks is my real address (which is fake) that ebay gave him. So I figure he threw the box away already, because when paypal told him to ship the wheels back to me, he sent me some garbage steel wheels in a different box. Just so he could prove he sent me a package.


Basically, I'm wondering how far they will go to find me for their $3200? And what their true means of even finding me are. And if the police will even get involved beyond taking a report that will have my fake info on it anyways. I'd rather forget paypal ever existed, but this stuff keeps me up at night. Screw people who use sellers and a weak system to get free stuff. Anyways. Thanks for any info you folks can provide!

They will go far enough to put you in jail. You should have not done that. Is this like your fifth account using today, or i missed one?

This isn't going to answer your question in detail. Even if they ever find you, as long as you are able to prove that you delivered the item in a manner that others would deem a "fair quality service", in a court case you should be fine. You haven't scammed anyone, so if you're real with what you've said that they want your stuff for free via chargeback, you should be fine I think.

I think that such large companies will store ALL your details on your account for at least 6 years, especially if they are dealing with money as is the case with paypal. So whether you've deleted it won't matter as they will have your account details on your file I think. If they care, they can use those numbers to find you without too much effort. I think US and UK banks bend over rather easily for such large corps as Paypal. These cases are probably handled by junior managers - even they will have some friends at banks I think. So, don't think they can't find you. Others will surely tell otherwise. This isn't no advice in any form, just my 2% of your future pension.

OP, what is worse, police finding you or the person you scammed, what do you think?

Your actions after the sales is what will label you a criminal once things get out of hand.

You are already apprehensive and when everything is there to track you, you have no chance of escaping.
I think you should weigh your options very well. You aint going about this the right way.

They will go as far as they find you and whoop your ass. Never underestimate a big financial corporation like Paypal. Your bank account and IP can all be traced back to you in a few clicks. Just imagine in the middle of the night, you hear sirens screaming on your street and you wake up to see your home surrounded by cops. Police everywhere on the street. No matter how fast you try to run/escape, they'll catch you and put you down just because they can and have all the orders to do so. The orders come from either the case filed by the buyer/paypal. You can keep running for your dear life but you can't hide. What you just imagined will happen in real soon if you don't refund the money. Just remember when someone knocks your door, it could be a cop holding a stun gun to put you down.

You can make a lot more than $3200 in legit ways so don't lose your life and go to jail for a stupid scam attempt.

Keep calm, Say sorry and refund the money back to the buyer. That's the right thing to do to save your life or you're gonna get tasered at any moment.

Dunno what to say regarding this but something tells me that if you weren't a scammer, you wouldn't be this worried. You've exposed yourself even more by posting about this in a public forum. Now everyone knows you are a BHW member and your real info could be on your BHW profile too, lol.
