    Hello all

    Hello,

An account under your control was recently found to be sending out emails at a rate faster than 500 messages/hour, which resulted in the investigation outlined below. As outlined in both our terms of service (http://www.hostgator.com/tos/tos.php) and mail policies (http://www.hostgator.com/mailpolicy.shtml), the maximum number of messages an account is permitted to send is 500 per hour.

I had 7 domains on this hostng and I never spam :S:S:S:S:S
Could it be my hosting was hacked? How can I know ? WHat should I do? Could it be some of the themes I was using?

Were you sending any emails at all? Seems like the limit is per account and not per domain.

If you were not then you should contact your hosting company to straighten it out.

Most likely you had an insecure script that was exploited. Happens quite often. Especially with the big oversellers like host gator or dreamhost. The down side of this happening is your domain as well as your IP are now going to be flagged for sending spam.

You could easily find out what was exploited by tailing the sendmail log or even the access_log would help. Not sure if your host will give you access to either though. I believe you have access to at least site level logs with host gator.

    Sounds like a hacking issue...
