Hello people,

we have the following problem:
we have started to publish topic-specific articles on our study page and have reached around 500-600,000 visitors per month via google.
Every new post for the main keywords appeared in the top 3 google searches after 1 week at the latest.
About 3 months ago, new posts started to perform worse. by now, even quite easy keywords only rank on page 2-3.
However, the existing old posts still rank, or have only fallen by 1-5 positions.
our total website traffic has dropped to about 70,000 visitors.

So once again, in a nutshell:

1. at the beginning, almost every topic performed directly in the top 1-3 in the Google search.
2. since 3 months new posts are performing almost not at all.
3. our website visitors have dropped from 600,000 monthly visitors to a maximum of 70,000.
4. old posts have on average only lost 1-4 positions in the ranking.

info:
According to google search console there is no penalty from google.
We have not lost a significant number of backlinks.
we do not use ai content.

If there is no penalty showing in console, it does not mean that it is safe from all updates. Match it with timings of google updates this year and you will know if any update caused this.

looks like you've been affected by 1 (or more) of google's billions of updates of late. Like @paisawaisa said, check the timings and see which update might have affected you and fix what needs to be fixed.

Something else that I can think of that might be at fault is internal linking and / or orphaned pages. Orphaned pages (pages that have no traffic and no links coming into them) have constantly been dropping off the SERPs in the last months, so make sure that you get traffic to those pages, build some internal links to them, or both.

I cant speak for your new posts as they don't relate to traffic itself but its probably worth checking if ALL your most traffic posts have seen this decrease. Im assuming you are sure this isn't a seasonal thing? I have seen websites that have massive drops like this in off season, and the way you talk about this and how you are asking 2 months later make me think the drop was gradual and not like a falling stone.
