I built a new gaming site. I am starting my way to make money online.

The problem is I don't know what should I put in it?

News? reviews? cheats?

Anyone, do have some experience here. Please help me start.
Thanks a lot.

Do some research first buddy. Look at what the competitors do and copy them. I don't think review sites will work with game cheats, just my 5 cent.

Maybe you should go with news in the beginning, but only if you have good knowledge about the niche. Cheats, won't make you money unless you're good in IM, since you need to implements strategies like content locking etc.

I have a gaming website, that I do for a hobby. I just do gameplay/walkthrough videos and post them on my website.

I use to do news and cheats, it took way too much time. I was spending my entire day doing it. I wanted to play games, not spend my day writing about them. For me, videos speak louder than words.

Can I get articles from other sites and re write it?

For news articles, yeah. Then put a source to the original article. Makes you look more legit. Make sure you add your own opinion and what not too so it's not such a blatant copy. Sites like io9.com do this sort of thing all the time.

find news on other sites...read them, close the page and write it down..this will make sure you will write with your own words, so you can avoid duplicate content

anyway, always think about the content and the future use of your sites...don't spend time building up something you don't even know ;)

Ryan Im a hardcore gamer myself :D

maybe we can discuss strategies, gaming, websites, IM blah blah blah, my MSN is: [email protected]

I could game everyday but need to have bread on the table too I guess -.-

I used to write content myself which i find limiting because gathering the inspiration to write sometimes is time consuming.

What i do with the gaming niche is outsource the content to a reliable team of writers and give them free reign on writing unique and relevant content about the particular gaming niche.

When you add the articles to your website and wait for them to index and rank, its amazing looking at the website or blog stats the types of keywords visitors enter to view the particular articles.

This always gives you some great ideas on what to write in future content, as you are giving the visitors what they were searching for.

I don t wanna get your hopes down , but I am a part of a company that does game reviews , news , previews , etc....
we have around 20 writers for all consoles , we even receive game before releases and we will sponsoring major gaming events across Canada and some of as went to E3 this year ( ended yesterday)
Well , What people are looking for based on my experience are game cheats and walk-through more than anything else . Major game reviews will bring you traffic ( diablo 3 , starcraft , WOW , etc.....)
Well , since our website is a corporate website I can do stuff like content locking and adsense etc....
but I will suggest you to go keep your website niche related , means : Don't go for generic traffic , target your traffic as much as you can , go for micro and micro niches .
For instance now : you can watch E3 videos and check what games will come out , take the old versions of one or two games , upload videos , re-write articles from other websites , backlinks , social bookamrk , on page and off page SEO etc...
You should get some nice traffic , once the ads will show on TV , not sure but I think assassin's creed 3 is not out yet , and the ads are on TV for the past 2 months or so , so yeah take advantage that .
Once the game will be out , write reviews about it and have your walk-through section wit a content locked and monetize all the other sections with adsense .
PS: I don't know if I make sense as I didn't sleep for the past 48 hours , didn't proof read what I wrote .
Best of luck

Thanks a lot guys. You really helped me with this.
I will generate my own content now. Wish me luck to make some moneysss.. :)

Make videos and post them on Youtube. Gather followers, and write about the games you're posting on Youtube. You'll get some good traffic that way.

Alternatively, you could either combine a little bit of everything, or get a hot chick to do Game reviews on Youtube, to pull in heaps of pervs. The only problem with the latter option, is you'd need to find the hot chick. :P
