It really depends, every ad plaform, geo, type etc had different price. Of course a lot of people still doing big bucks on ppc + clickbank, I think it is possible to promote on google, facebook without get banned, but niche need be whitehat. For example try promote some yoga, how to play on some instrument etc. But of course, if you choose black hat niche ( for example weightloss ), made funel with prelanding with some celebrity, or doctor and these things, it convert much better than whitehat yoga excersie, but your ad account got banned, and you are again on start.

1. If you know how to farm accounts and manage how to avoid bans, then promote blackhat stuff.
2. If you don't know how to do step 1, promote whitehat stuff
