Suppose the name of the website itself has the word (buy) and I have to create a meta description as given below, will that have a negative effect on the ranking of the website?

e.g website name is - Buy(space)(Product Name) / Meta Title: Buy (product name) from a wide range of products.

It's irrelevant what you put there. Just write something catchy.

Google will most likely ignore it anyway and use its own meta description.

I look at what words appear in competitor titles, and do something similar, using the most common words in all the titles. So if most of the other results have "buy" in them then I'd do it too.

Actually ,Its good for you. But at the same time when you create a meta description and title . You must use our keyword. If its start Buy . You can use it.

Here are example for you.

Here you find your answer and all your doubt will be clear.

You've made a title that is too spammy.

Focus more on the problem that the product is trying to solve.

You might want to look up meta description writing guidelines put out by Yoast.

The key here is to write meta titles that would reasonably inform the viewer but don't come off as spammy.

Admittedly, that's a tight line that you have to walk.

But Yoast has a great guide on writing meta descriptions that not only appeal to Googlebot but also can get flesh-and-blood human search result viewers to click on your link
