in IT important subjects such as Operating sys , System architecture etc are not taught. Adobe came to my campus and they refused to hire Soft. Dev. from IT branch for this reason . From software development POV , CS > IT always .
If you want to be happy do whatever you enjoy and you're good at. If you want to make loads of money do whatever is in demand. Go on a site like itjobswatch.co.uk and see what different jobs in your area are paying.
