Greetings! I've been lurking around here for years, seeking inspiration and picking up tips. I had a b2b and retail business that lasted about 5 years around 2006-2011. In that time I learned quite a few things and had some great success, but unfortunately it was short lived. I had direct competition and was so niche, I was at the mercy of vendors supplying product. Won't get into specifics, but I lost everything, totally hit rock bottom, broke and hopeless. It's depression and regret that I still live with, wishing I could go back and do it all over again, but you learn from your mistakes and move on. When the business began to fail, I thought how nice it would be to just work for someone and collect a paycheck. Well after trying the job market and working for a few companies, I found it really hard to not own my decisions, work with inexperienced (incompetent) staff who would be my superiors and co-workers, found it really frustrating, boring, and restricting. After speaking my mind to a boss, that took my ideas and immediately fired me, that was the fire lit under my ass to work for myself again and haven't looked back. Where I'm at now? I've been freelancing for the past few years, utilizing whatever skill I have and trying to monetize it. My biggest success has been Web Development for small businesses and startups. It's a lot of work at times, then sometimes no work at all (financial stress), but it's much better than the stress and anxiety working for a company with archaic corporate methods and navigating office politics. So I have these awesome skills as a web developer and want to create a new business that can generate passive income or would even consider shipping a product, if i could find the right niche that isn't saturated. I've had several ideas, but feel like everything is saturated at the moment. I'm a huge skeptic and don't believe in get rich quick schemes, keeping a realistic approach. I also have a passion with an artistic endeavor, that I've gotten close to success with an end goal, but not quite there yet. It requires a lot of time and some investments. My dream and goal is to generate passive income or something that requires maybe a few hours of maintenance a day, so I can focus on art without the anxiety of being broke all the time. So I'm just here reading and trying to add new tools to the kit. I'm not sure which direction to go. I've tried building blogs, but had trouble getting approved by Adsense, maybe didn't have enough content or specific enough niche. I also tried Amazon affiliate program, but they booted me off after first sale. I probably didn't invest enough time into it and was half arsing it. I thought clickbank was saturated years ago and always found myself to be a skeptic when I land on sites selling ebooks. I don't know, maybe I'm a pessimist and still works. I'm not opposed to any ideas, so long as it's something I can be passionate about. Anyway, thanks for reading if you have and look forward to learning and hopefully contributing to the community.
