I stumbled across this site while I was looking for ways to make money online. At first I was thinking some kind of social media content farm, but now I see there are so many more options! I have a couple questions, what exactly is SEO and how is it profitable?

SEO means Search Engine Optimization, which means that you build your site in such a way that ranks in the search engines (google, bing, duckduckgo, etc).

There are certain steps you need to take if you wish to rank in google, but I'm not going into details as you sound WAY too beginner and I'll have to explain everything in detail, which will take days. Just look around the forum and you'll find a lot of info, so much in fact that it will make your head spin.

You could also wait for someone else to post some beginner guides, sometimes people do this (myself included, just not today). Or you can go to Youtube and watch tutorials on basic SEO, that will introduce you to it...

well, if you rank in google you're going to make money, and to rank in google you need to optimize your site for google (google wants sites to meet certain requirements in order to get ranked, and these requirements are called SEO, like I said)... I'm pretty sure you can see how SEO can be profitable
