Hello, I am newbie and I am sorry for bothering you with my stupid questions, however I hope someone can answer me.

CPI - Cost per instal , so that basically means that I get conversion when user1xx comes to my web and instal what i provided there, right?

CPA - Cost per action, what does that mean??? What user has to do so I get my conversion?

Yes.

CPA is a generalized term for getting paid upon the user doing something. CPI is CPA. Moreover, CPA is generally referenced to mean promoting products or services and getting commission based on the user doing something that benefits the advertiser, like signing up for a free trial, making a purchase, or completing a survey.

Thanks Noah for so quick response, so basically you would say that CPI is easier than CPA? In my mind it is, because user only needs to install right? It is harder to make a purchase, complete survey or make sign up for free trial, no?

What's important isn't what's easier to convert, but what pays the most. You might get 10 times more installs of Angry Birds than free trial conversions for a dating website, but if the install pays you $1.00 per conversion and the free trial pays you $30.00 per conversion, you're making 3 times more money.

CPA = Cost Per Action. For example: user point his/her personal data

nowadays people call cpa cost per acquisition, before it used to be cost per action
basically it means the same things. user need to do some action to make conversion, action could be any thing like email submit, zip submit, free trail with cc submit, pin submit for mobile content offers, sale,...
but if you are new, suggest you to start out with simple cpa offers like email submit and zip submits like win an iphone, win vouchers, and stuffs like that.
And also you NEED to know that, cpa is mostly about buying traffic from advertisers company, not free methods, not even about traffic from your own website ( unless u get million hits a month), and last but not the least, it is Performance Marketing! ;)

CPI - Cost per install - that means user has to download software in order for your lead to be counted.
CPA - Cost per action - The cpa has large volume of offers that pays decently, it can be as easy as CPI to convert if you have right audience.

If we go CPA vs CPI i say try both.

Hey!

Don't forget also that CPI is not only an install. Very often our affiliates come with a question - user installed an app, but I didn't get any conversion, why?
Each CPI offer has KPI's that the user has to go through, in order for you to receive a conversion. This way, some CPI offers require the user to open an app after downloading, or even, if it's a game, reach a certain level playing, till the pixel is fired.

CPA are somewhat easier to work with, those are subscriptions, registrations. Sometimes it is enough to click on a banner and then on a confirmation banner for you to receive a conversion.

CPA - the A can be differnt from network to network
