Hi, new here so firstly hello and secondly I think I'd like to join in on the IM fun. Maybe a little lengthy for a first post, here goes.
Approx 18 months ago I had an idea of selling a product within Europe and was in talks with the brand/manufacturer who provisionally gave me distribution rights, it seemed like a good market to enter considering the success and demand of the product in it's home country and growing demand elsewhere, however it ended there and nothing was heard since.
Having bought 11 domains, three distinct and eight spelling/tld variations thereof, all relative to that particular product/niche, I thought at the least to cover domain costs it was best to upload content with some amazon links. That was that and to be honest it hasn't received any attention since but today I logged onto analytics and there have been 130 visits, 95% of which unique, with no sales in 10 months - hardly surprising given my lack of input. To be honest I didn't really care, continue reading and it will make sense why I only decided to look at the stats today.
Moving on?
Last week an idea arose for a fully blown article/blog/events/biz directory/shopping site in relation to a range of services/products available specifically in one geographical location with the ABED aspect having a focus on the tourism industry and the shopping side having a global output so I subsequently acquired some domains for the new project.
Then a couple of nights ago I'm in a bar chatting with someone about SEO and IM who vaguely speaks of figures they're personally making in the IM industry employing a variety techniques when I have this epiphany? I already own five distinct domains with an additional 10+ in various spellings/tlds, it could be easier using all these individually to generate traffic and ultimately some kind of income instead of focussing on one new 'mega' project which would certainly require capital and a small team to pull off, perhaps starting small on the 'mega' project with a view to grow that later if the funds become available.
My background is 12+ years of development pertaining to online businesses building everything from small brochure sites to automated backend systems for 3000+ orders a day ecommerce stores, along the way picking up a host of IM techniques mainly in the realm of WH SEO, developing with best practices in mind to achieve excellent organic listings (handling SM output to drive traffic also)- example a gym, ranking third on google for generic location based term, in a geographically gym dense area (and the gym in question isn't actually in that area). What I don't have is the low level knowledge when it comes to IM - the various methods used, actually creating conversions and making an income from it.
I realise and completely appreciate there's a huge learning curve involved and it will take a lot of time and dedication but I'm not quite sure where to start. Could anyone offer a couple of resources/ebooks as a solid start point to learn about IM from the ground up for clarity on it all?
Thanks for taking the time to read.
