Congrats, welcome to the team!Hi everyone! My name is Petra and I'm your newest BHW Community Manager!
A Little About Me
I'm sure that the most astute of you will notice I'm not a long standing BHW member. That's correct. But, don't think that I've come along to help out without knowing anything about the community!
Back in 2005 I moved from Florida where I was a corrections officer to the Netherlands where I eventually picked up a job in adult affiliate marketing. My very first assignment that lasted for about a year was getting all of the FHG links and link codes up on the website. Everyone kept talking about FHGs, link codes, sponsors and affiliates and as you can imagine, I really had no clue coming from a career that didn't have this jargon. Instead of asking a human being, I asked Google and landed on BlackHatWorld.
From having to deal with the affiliate marketing material for the company that hired me I went on to many different jobs and eventually started freelancing as well. Besides affiliate marketing I have set up a few affiliate programs for clients. I've also done plenty of SEO copywriting, on site SEO, content management, team management, project management, testing and of course community management. Over the past 17 years I've mostly worked for clients but I have a few little projects that I use to test my knowledge or theories in SEO and community building.
Community Management
For as long as I can remember I've been building communities, both in real life as well as digitally. I helped my mother build a 4-H group out where we lived and while officially she had to be "leader" on paper I'm the one who ran it.
In fact, the community I'm most proud of within the computer gaming community is the almost 4 year old Discord community I've built for the MMO Eve Online (yes, I'm an Eve player so scammers and fraudsters beware -- Eve players are very hard to scam). The community is currently sitting at 3500 players and growing wildly every month. It's been so successful I've had the opportunity to work with CCP Games directly this past year in regards to managing and growing a community. The team I've put together to help manage this community is almost at 100 people and I can still count on one hand how many people we've had to ban within the community's lifetime.
Professionally I managed a large, thriving forum much like BHW (different business concept, of course) and like BHW I took the forum from vBulletin to Xenforo. So needless to say, not only am I intimate with the forum software I'm also quite knowledgeable about the different quirks a forum community has. I've also managed several social media communities for clients over the years as well.
Plans Moving Forward
Don't worry, BHW as you know it isn't suddenly going to change because it doesn't need to. I'm a firm believer in if it's not broken, don't mess with it. HOWEVER, the flip side to that is to adjust (or axe) current rules if they aren't working as well to implement new rules and changes as necessary.
Currently, a lot of what's being asked of me is looking into more technical aspects of the forum software. However, my first real "mark" that you're going to feel has to do with establishing some rules in the Introductions section (tba this week). I'm all about community engagement and I thinking this section can be a valuable resource for new members wishing to utilize it as well as established members being able to pass on their wisdom. And, it lays down some consistency which I love as a community manager.
So with this being said, feel free to ask questions and lets get to know each other!

I'm actually American, from the Pacific Northwest. But we're Germans and Norwegian on my mothers side and the Norwegian family bible originally belonged to my great, great, great grandmother Petra. My mother loved the name so I had to endure "Are you named after the Christian rockband Petra?" a good portion of growing up in the 80s and 90s.
But, now that I'm in the Netherlands I'm not such the odd duck.I think it's something used mostly in adult affiliate marketing (I don't do a lot of mainstream affiliate marketing and when I do, it's just working with the link code not other affiliate marketing assets). They're free hosted galleries. Basically, a page with a bunch of pictures hosted by the sponsor.
Back in 2007 BHW had a lot more adult presence than it seems to have today. But, affiliate marketing in adult is slowing down and it's mostly CPA networks or 3 big sponsor programs that have 75% of the sites.

I think it's something used mostly in adult affiliate marketing (I don't do a lot of mainstream affiliate marketing and when I do, it's just working with the link code not other affiliate marketing assets).
