My profile would show that I joined this forum in 2018 but it is only in the last few days that I have been checking out things here.

To be honest, I don’t exactly know what I am doing on this forum. I am a burnout former content writer and strategist from India. Working as a content writer and strategist I bore the brunt of the hellish working conditions and served as cheap labour in organisations that can be best described as sweatshops. All this took a toll on my mental health and writing which was once my favourite activity became a chore. So much so that I quit it altogether.

Now I want to make a fresh start. I am planning to get into Psychology as this has always been a favourite subject of mine. I could also start afresh in SMM or PPC if I get decent, humane opportunities.
Maybe, down the line, I will want to build a psychology-focused website promoting my services. Maybe this will remain a pipe dream. Only time will tell.

I don’t know how active I will be on the forum because I am still not in a good space in terms of my mental health. However, I love reading about internet marketing and therefore will try to read often and learn from knowledgeable people here.
This has probably been a bit of a rambling, disjointed talk and hopefully, no one will hold this against me.

You got decent writing skills. You still were treated badly by content writing companies? With these skills, you can get a good job as many startups need good content writers.

Thank you for your comments. However, in my experience SMEs and startups are the worst culprits in India. Not giving big companies a clean chit but just speaking comparatively. Writing is not really seen as an economically valuable skill in India where an MBA and an engineering degree are usually seen as the pinnacle of human existence. And nowadays savvy marketing has created the 'startup craze'. But I digress.

In India there is no difference between a 'content writer' , content strategist and a content marketer. Ideally, these are three different job roles but companies in India who follow the dictum of ' Buy 1 get 2 free' combine all roles together. If you manage to get a writing only role, the salary will be such that you'll often find yourself comparing your lifestyle with, let's say, an Uber driver and wondering which of you has a better lifestyle.

There is a lot to write but then if I do so it will turn into a novel. The bottom-line according to me is - Neo Liberalism & capitalism dictates that world moves towards STEM oriented professions and non-STEM people might as well pull a gun to their temple.
