Hello everyone,

I began my SEO "Journey" back in 2016 with my first blog post on my personal website. Back then I didn't know much about SEO other than the basic meta tags and that high-quality "real" backlinks were one of the most important ranking factors.

My first attempt to programmatically increase the ranking of my single blog post was to use a software tool called Protractor to perform a Google Search for relevant Keywords to my website.

The process went like this:

1. Protractor would open up a new Google Chrome browser tab and navigate to Google.com

2. Protractor would then click on the Google search box and type in the search text and trigger the enter button

3. Then it would click on other website links and it would click the back button within a couple of seconds and I thought this would signify to Google that it was a bad source for that specific search

4. And then it would click on my blog post and sit on it for a couple of minutes before closing out the page and repeating the process.

I think it actually did improve the rankings for my single blog post but it may have just improved it for only myself because it did bump it up one position after a couple of days but when I performed a Google Search with VPN the search result was in the same position as it was before I did my little protractor click experiment.

That was the start of my programmatic SEO Journey. Since then, as an engineer, I have primarily focused on building Software as a Service products and I have implemented basic SEO work to benefit my websites.

I have also built many non-related SEO tools and I plan to keep on building things.

I am looking forward to learning as much as possible from the community as well as receiving feedback from a lot of the work I do and my ideas.

Thanks for reading!
