Hi All!

I've spent almost the last 26 years building an adult website empire. I started in 1999 with a cobbled together PC and a barely used T1 line in my dorm block.
I "retired" at the end of 2024, selling my empire of over 500 domains to one of the larger tube sites for a life changing amount of money. Don't ask, due to my NDA, I can't say.
Retirement lasted about three months before I got bored and snagged some killer 3 & 4-letter domains that were too good to pass up.

I'm here to connect, trade links and maybe share my experience with folks that I have from 26 years of building sites.

Have you ever tried NGINX fast_cgi cache in place of varnish?

I also use LEMP and I think it’s the best. Redis db caching is a must.

Good question, I actually use them both.

Varnish handles caching majority of the content, before hitting NGINX/ fast_cgi, which is great with caching static content and images. Varnish helps also reduces the load on the rest of the server.
Basically what ever Varnish doesn't have in or can't cache, NGINX takes over.

I could simplify this and use Cloudflare and eliminate Varnish by caching my content on CF Edge with two simple rules, which I will probably do once I start pushing more traffic.

Tbh I never could get varnish to work for me. I build dynamic websites. In fact I’m building a little community into a Wordpress website using Jet engine and their other Plugins. Fast cgi cache just works for me.

I did use cf edge for a few months but I really didn’t see any benefit in terms of page load as compared to my current caching solutions. Maybe you will get better results!
