23 year old from the US here, I used to play online poker for a living but ever since April 15, or "Black Friday" as poker players call it, when the DOJ banned the main (ie reputable) poker sites from serving US players, I've been looking for a new source of income and stumbled on to this site.
So far I've started by making an account on Textbroker trying to write articles. It's been ok, but it seems like the earning potential is very limited. It's hard for me to imagine how it could be a viable option for full-time income without at least getting 4 or 5 stars, and even then it seems marginal. I guess my short-term (within a month or two) goal is to be able to make $2-3k/mo. profit. I dunno, does that sound reasonable?
But anyway, so far I've made a bit over $40 which I'd guess comes out to around $5/hr, which I have mixed feelings about. I certainly wasn't expecting to get rich quick, but at the same time I'm not seeing a ton of room to improve my income. I've also made accounts on AC/eLance/couple other sites but haven't done anything with them yet. In some threads I've seen people suggest outsourcing articles, but I'm hesitant to put any money into it until I've made some more by myself.
Aside from writing at TB, I've mostly just been reading lots of threads and trying to learn. Unfortunately, it does seem like there's a lot of methods that used to be great that no longer work, but I guess that's life.
