Hello everyone.
I am happy to be here and continue a journey that began about a year ago when I was bit by the SEO bug as I endeavored to learn the tricks of the trade to employ in my small family business. I learned an enormous amount from binge watching Youtube content where there is a wealth of information (charlatans and hustlers aside) on just about every aspect of this game.
In a former career, I traded stocks for a living, and I noticed a lot of parallels in SEO. Both fields seeks edges to exploit in what is zero-sum game, but not a face to face one so it is hardly personal. Buying low and selling higher is sort of like ranking low and then raking higher to win market share. There are new challenges every day and the Google monster, much like the market beast, is always changing and so you must constantly adapt. There is almost unlimited potential for those who work hard to get to the top of their game in their niche.
With the advent of AI and SGE, there is also another new parallel I am observing in some aspects of the SEO world to what I lived through years ago in the equity market, this one being a bit more negative. At that time, machines and their algos began taking over the markets to automate trading and the edges that humans had always exploited became harder to come by and rarer as time went on. This may be beginning to happen in some areas of the SEO game, further underscoring the need to constantly adapt in order to survive.
Beyond doing what I do for my business, I'd like to try and get into something in the SEO field that can generate a bit of cash flow in itself, whether it be lead generation, rank & rent, affiliate (though that one seems affected the most by SGE), etc.
I am impressed by the camaraderie and brotherhood I have seen so far in this field, with many willing to share and help their peers. This spirit appears to exist here in this forum, and I am looking forward to participating and contributing.
