Hello all from Nepal. I am no hit and run types so my introduction will be a bit longer than usual I guess and most probably boring too. I like this forum for what I have seen so far so I am here to stay for a while.
I have been a domainer for a couple of years. I also runs an offline business that deals in handling and preparation of documents for the people going abroad for jobs. But of course, currently like most I am sitting at home found either on a laptop or a mobile phone and repeating the dreaded cycle.
2019 was good year for me in terms of domaining. I must have made around 7K in profit with 17 sales. This is considered pretty decent earning in my country. Unfortunately, since January this year, there has not been a single sale
. Last year, I had around 500 domains and now left with only around 150. I am all set to replenish my inventory though. Although it was returning a nice profit, I had to let expire most of them simply because I did not have time to manage them due to my small new offline business. It just took way too much of my time and energy. The small new business just was beginning to become pretty stable then the corona happened.
I am fan of reddit. I am a NamePros dotcom member with a VIP status with 100% positive trade rating. I am pretty okay with basic DevOps and pretty decent at programming with php, js and currently learning advanced concepts of node and python.
I am pretty lazy when it comes to writing articles, especially long 3k-5k. So, in the last two weeks I have built a custom scraper which is going to scrape content from two different sources and a youtube API, mix-match and create a wordpress post. I also made a side-script which generates unique featured image for every post. I have another laptop besides me which is still running the scraper on chrome. It is sooooo satisfying watching at the log rolling up....
Playing by the volume, there is gonna be at least three of these websites. The first website is already live as the scraper keeps pumping articles evrey 8 seconds. Already thrown some adsense ad codes on it.... around 180 articles already on google search results. Further thinking of building some backlinks for these. This is just something that I am throwing on the wall and see if sticks. Doing it only because I have seen someone do it and is enjoying massive success. In the worst case I will lose a few bucks on domain and hosting, my adsense account and a month of good work. But hey no reward without a risk .. right ?
I am also considering the idea of making myself a PBN. Due to earlier domaining adventure I am pretty aware of how expireddomains dotnet work. I am all ears if someone can suggest me project ideas based on scraping and or anything that requires some sort of automation.
Well that is it for now. I am open to sensible criticism.
