It places insecurity for the transactions online, how will this affect us IMs?

The reason they won't give this out is: You were alreadying trusting them anyway.
You are already trusting them not to leak your password to someone else.
You are already trusting them not to leak their certificate keys.
This bug does not change any of that trust requirements. It may lower your belief that they should be trusted, but you have to trust them yet again anyway.
