Check Google trends for "facebook" - in US/UK it goes down. In Asia it goes up.

I haven't checked the graph yet, but if it's true, that's interesting. In that case, FB might very well face severe problems in near future. Remember Orkut? It became a phenomenon in India. All Indians (and many Brazilians) were on Orkut. But the site continued to lose popularity in US, UK and other western countries. Then it simply died.

Let's see which way FB goes...

Yes, it seems that US/UK are still the trend makers. Once you loose these markets you loose them all.

Facebook has reached near saturation in these two markets, so I guess, its expected to fall in search trends. On the other hand, facebook has started gaining recognition in countries like India, which is explained in the search trends.

Search trends represent a statistically significant population, and I believe they are correlated 1:1 to number of active users. Take me for example, when I want to reach Facebook I search Google for the address (in order to avoid typos).

If the trend is going down it means people loosing interest. The same happened to MySpace btw. In Asia the peak of interest is shifted compared to USA/UK. It might be we are seeing the Asian peak of Facebook right now.

Definately, Facebook is and will continue to go downhill. I believe this is in part due to twitter and Facebook messing things up for themselves. Facebook is only still being used because of its ability to keep some kind of contact with people you meet in life, and it's photos, it's so useful as its just an online photo album.

Everyone is into twitter now, it's an easier more user friendly way to see what people are saying and doing etc. Facebook is all about seeing what people are doing, statuses. But twitter does this in such an easier and better way, especially with smartphone apps.

Also facebook accounts are constantly being spammed with event invitations and group invitations etc, this really pisses people off and I know for a fact a lot of young adults and students have stopped using Facebook as much because of this.

What? I don't think most people do that. I just press f and down and enter :p. And those using chrome have facebook on their home page (speed dial).

I'm not saying most people do that, only saying its statistically significant sample. :) This is how people do surveys, they choose 1000 people who represent millions. If Facebook stays as popular as it was there will always be 1000 people who will type facebook into Google search. :)

Of course, in the case of Facebook its not 1000, but somewhere close to 10000000.

Yeap, but main Market for Facebook is USA/UK

ASIA, there they just use Facebook to Kill Qaddafi and other Gov. Representatives :)

BTW, today i saw on TV, that GM (General Motors) refused to sign another contract with Facebook Ad Center, Last year GM spend'ed on Facebook Ads $40.000.000 and now they Official said that Facebook Advertisement is a bad platform for advertisement... GM was second big Ad Buyer from Facebook...

Im sure Facebook will be affected on market, after this loose.

I know that FB just recently bought InstaGram for an insane amount of money. They have penetrated half of all of the earth's internet users. When you have that much power and and are so deeply embedded into everyone's everyday life and also even businesses, it is hard to die even if you wanted to :)

They also have not broken into the Asian markets for political reasons but when they do - watch out - their stock will soar.

About Facebook Stocks, If you want to make money on Stocks, then find something Real and not stupid things like Facebook, Apple, Google ... These stocks are for those with big pocket and power. I prefer Auto, Electric, Oil Company Stocks, i never trusted Apple (especially with Jobs in front), Google/Facebook/Amazon/Ebay...
