Having Trouble Selling on eBay

Hey guys, I know I am a new user on the forum, but I have been looking at the forum for a while (not reg'd) and just recently started up on ebay. I just have a few questions to get started:

1. I havent sold anything, these are most of the products i am selling
I have had them listed for about 2 days now, any tips and tricks on how to sell goods?

2. I don't really know what niche to go for, but I am focusing on drop shipping for now, until I get enough revenue and a general idea of what sells, then i will buy in bulk. Do you recommend aiming for a specific niche or going all out with listing all kinds of products?

3. I don't have a stealth account, do I need one? This ebay account that I am using I have had for 3+ years (but it only has 4 reviews, all 5 stars) what's the purpose for a stealth?

4.I am currently manually updating and posting all of my listings, I also manually created a cool little HTML listing thread for all my items. The question: should I continue to manually post these items or should I go ahead and automate this process by purchasing some external program, e.g: yak

1. Are you selling only those 6, or are those just a representative sample? I have on the order of 10s of thousands listed and only sell hundreds a day. You can have much better numbers with effort, certainly, but listing more things will get you more sales. You also might be pricing them too high to succeed. If you are dropshipping, you should look into some type of dynamic pricing as well to change your prices with the prices of the underlying goods.

2. I've personally had success with the latter, but many people here have also had success with the former. Whatever works for you I guess.

3. If you list products that you don't necessarily have the right to resell, then you can get copyright violations (and other types of violations, too). If you get enough of these, they will suspend some of your account privileges for 3 days, 7 days, 30 days, then suspend your account entirely for 3 days, 7 days, 30 days, then permanently. You can fight these violations and suspensions, but some people prefer to have accounts that they can sell on, then throw away when it has troubles. A 3+ year account is terrific, as it gives you a lot of leniency in calls with ebay since they know you are a real user. That said, if you ever lose the account to something like an MC999, know you have other options like stealth accounts.

4. What are your expectations out of doing this? If you intend to make some real money, be prepared to buy a program or write your own. If you are doing this as a hobby in your spare time, then manually is fine.

1.As of right now I can only post 10 items (that's my limit, those six, plus another 4) In regards to my pricing, all of my items are around a $4 profit margin (after ebay+paypal fees), is that too high as a new user?


2. I guess i'll stick to dropshipping for now, then go ahead and purchase stock at a later point


3.Okay, so i'll stick with my account for now, and worst come to worse i'll go stealth in the future, hopefully i wont have to resort to that. I'm trying to post only non-copyright items, as well as goods that arn't even borderline greyzone




4. As of right now I am really just doing this as a hobby, and in the future I would like to scale it up and invest more into this project. I have put in around 15 hours on listing these 10 items, I guess once they increase my limit, I will look into some sort of software to increase listing like you said.


AFter reading that ^ do you suggest I put a price significantly lower, and lose some money at the beginning to increase my ratings?

I think you need to get some reviews start get some feedback atleast 25 + to speed up the selling process.

So Test, I should post cheap stuff, and lose a few dollars at first, get 25+ reviews, and then work on products?

Also I was just wondering, how do I know what is "hot" on the market, and things people will purchase? I am drop shipping from Aliexpress (btw)

Firstly I wouldn't recommend dropshipping from aliexpress to ebay unless you are getting fast delivery times. I would go with something like amazon or a similar online store.

To see if somethings hot you type in the keyword you want to sell (eg red christmas lights), you then go to the number 1 listing and see how many they are selling per day at what price. You can do this by clicking on the total sold link in the listing.

The most important part of ebays ranking system in my opinion is the views to sales ratio and number of sales so adjust your prices to get these initial sales to get you higher up there.

Okay, and can I use the same paypal to purchase from amazon that I use for my ebay? and should I go for these products, or should I just go for random popular products (e.g: workout pants?) because "hot" products will have a ton of competition. And is there anyway I could get banned for dropshipping from amazon?

You need at least 50 positive reviews. Buy cheap stuffs from sellers, then you send them positive reviews, they will send you positive reviews too. Win-win

I believe you can be banned from amazon for dropshipping but there are obviously ways to get round it if that was to happen. I wrote a guide about amazon to ebay dropshipping that would answer your other question well.
