Hey guys, I've been trying to rank a page for a specific keyword after it took quite a nasty ranking beating last year.

I'm unable to really see the specifics for the competitor domains as I don't own Majestic Pro.

    Little bits of important info.

    • All four sites are all between 8-12 years old.
    • All four sites belong to actual companies, all real content, and real services being sold.
    • All four sites to my knowledge, none of the four sites have been penalized. I know Site A (my project) hasn't.
    • Site A (My project) previously ranked #1 for this specific kw dropped to #9th October last year.
    --------

Does anybody have any idea why we're having such a hard time ranking?

Well those back link numbers aren't insane or anything for the top websites. But you really gotta do a competitive analysis to understand what you are up against. I usually use Ahrefs, which is a back link look up tool to take the useful sources of links from my competitors and try to reproduce those in higher quantities.
But since the websites are several years old and have lots of content, even with a small back link profile they can be pretty solid in the serps. You are going to need to see what kind of back links they have, start getting them and in a higher quantity, have good on site optimization and start adding regular content.

I analyzed their backlinks already using seomoz, and I still don't get what I'm doing wrong...
