having signature links the same color as the background in **************** forums?

I am talking about dropping links in the signature or even in the post itself on **************** forums to build backlinks? that way, The mods on those forums may not realize we posted link has anybody tried doing this? is it effective? thoughts??

Nice, and yes I have tried this with html and it worked very well on forums. No of which are still around.

Not possible. This link should be black but it's not. It's because you can't change the color of the links since they have colors set in CSS. You would need to somehow include css in your posts.

You would still need to include html code in your posts. Unless you could somehow hack and change css styles on forums.

However this would probably work on WP blogs (or any other places where the HTML code does not get removed):

I am not 100% sure but as far as I know spiders take these links as normal however they are not visible to the user (because of the CSS code).

I've tried this across many forums but very few forums allow you to do this. Plus when there are smileys, why bother with this?

do you think that because that's just what you assumed, or because of something that youve specifically read which clearly states that google actually do look for such links and actively penalises websites that are the beneficiary - if so, could you please provide a link to the information source for us to independantly verify.

Smilies don't include anchor text, however maybe you could put your keywords in alt tags, that may have seo benefit.
