Hey everyone, so maybe some of you might be able to shed some light on this. Now I have a site that has been earning consistent income for about a year by simply promoting it with spun content (believe it or not). The content I was auto-posting ran out, and it stopped promoting for a while. That site sorta withered during that time. I took note, and checked it's vitals. The keyword I was promoting still showed the site in the top 10 search results even after the traffic tailed off. In fact it stayed there for several weeks, before finally dropping down several pages, then falling off the index altogether.
I have since restarted the same type of promotion, and it is back on the index where it was before this all started, but the number of visits from that keyword is still down quite a ways (there is no seasonal high for this site BTW other than Christmas). But if it's at the same place in the SERPS as it was when I was getting decent traffic, what's the difference?
Interestingly I've seen this with other sites too. Then when I throw out some content with links it gives a boost to the traffic, but not the ranking of the primary keyword. Not sure what to make of it.
