Have you ever successfully JVed before?

Has anyone ever JVed successfully before? I don't mean mutually pushing each others offers; I mean where two people who don't live in the same city work together and split everything 50/50 on their own product/website.

I've been thinking about this. My strength is in keyword research, generating traffic and rankings or generating good paid traffic. Actually creating/designing the website, adding the (QUALITY) content and keeping it updated isn't my strength (that is the part I HATE!). I could hire someone to do that, but the problem is when you HIRE someone, they're inevitably not that competent, otherwise they'd be doing it themselves, you know?

But how do you work with someone who you've never met? :/

Main thing is trust for me.

Well yeah. I have to say, this isn't the field you go into if you want to gain moral faith in humanity, lol. Lots and lots of people will stab you in the back in this business; something which I've found ISN'T true of general humanity.

Of course they have JVs rock bringing 2 skill sets to the table instead of one, my biggest project to date is a JV with GoldenGlovez here, we are countrys apart but everything is 50/50 and online. It's been a big success for us and works well even though we are miles apart, working with people you never met is 9 times out of 10 what IM is all about really!

I have a big trust issue when it comes to working with others, but that being said I've managed to successfully JV with people on multiple occasions. You just have to be careful who you put trust in, and always make sure you cover your ass by preparing for the worst possible scenario.

Of course! Currently I am in a really successful JV. I am in the US, and my friend in India. This timezone difference allows us to work on the JV double time.

True.

I only JV with people who I've known for a good while or they live locally. It's all about minimising risk before you take on a JV unless the JV just fail's of course which can happen a lot.

I used the JV section twice.

The first JV went great, we did not earn alot but I learned much from him and we`ll prob open a BST soon.

The second one was also fairly good we made some big bucks (75-100 a day). From the other day the earnings stopped and never heard of him again. (His job were the visitors mines the site I am pretty good at content/site managing.

The hard point is trust, and when you jv on the forum you prob just know him, most of the times i can judge if i want to work with or not on the way he talks like garantees what is hard or impossible.

My sites, pingfarm and indexkings, were a JV with a forum admin I met a while back but have never met face to face. They do pretty well

I also have a credit website that is a JV but that's with one of my friends I went to college with. It does pretty good as well lol.

My most stable income comes from two JVs that I'm part of so they can definitely work!

You just have to find the right people to work with then start small and as trust builds up, scale up your investments.

It started when he had a forum and I was a member. I found out that he was looking for someone to do some maintenance on the forum and so I asked him if I can take on the job. I had to demonstrate to him that I could do it using an example site and so I gained his trust. Since then, I kept working for him until he promoted me to admin on his site. Then we became friends and started discussing business opportunities. When we reached the decision to start offering web hosting services, he handed me his share of investment and I managed it all. Later when we decided to sell the business, he told me to keep all the money because I've put in too many hours into the thing but I refused to.

Since then, he's been busy with his personal life, also working somewhere else and we haven't had contact for over a year and so I lost this partner.

Really good to hear JV's are working out for people I'm actually in an extensive JV right now, but I know the individual offline.

i've tried jv'ing in the past and all i got was a parade of do-nothing layabouts.

i'm still open to jv deals (i just started a new business) if the person can perform, unfortunately a lot of people want the cash handed to them for free.

Yes, I'm currently JV'ing from someone who got in touch with me via Skype. He's in a different country, but he has skills, and I have resources to get the $$$ from his skills. Have had plenty of other JV's in the past, but none that earned like this current one.

The bottom line is you have to decide whether or not you're going to trust someone and jump in.

I love and hate JV's at the same time. A lot of times you do butt heads and disagree on project details. But you got to realize this is just part of doing business with a partner. Learn to disagree but respect at the same time.

I use to refuse to do JV's but over the years I found that I make a lot more money by doing what I do well (programming and technical) and doing a JV with someone that markets and sells well.

Now I will admit that many JV deals went sour. But many worked out well. I have even had JV partners going totally missing when the time came to marketing the new product. I'm sure others have had the programmer go missing. It's a two way street.

When a product is created and then never sold by the JV partner, I just put it on the shelf. Then when a new marketer comes along with the same or close idea, I pull the code off the shelf and dust it off.

So don't ever be afraid to get involved in a JV, just realize that not every JV is going to work out.

Im going to approach this question with a response in regards to being someone who invests money into JV's.

How I see it is this. To me, $2000 is not a life changing thing. I make more than that in a week and if someone whom is from a country where they can't simply work for a couple months to earn that 2000 seed money then I'll be more than happy to help out if I feel that they DO have a good business plan because if someone can turn a 2000 investment into $1000/mo in passive income, or even hire a couple people which affects the well being of a family - then I would feel like an idiot for Not investing in a JV. There's thousands of awesome ideas out there. There's some kid in India right now that gets shitty grades in school but is absolutely amazing at something they can do and can maintain a savant like focus on the task at hand and match financial accomplishments of people like Zuckerburg, and I want to find that kid and help him get started - it's not his fault he can't walk into a bank with his amazing ideas and get a $2000 loan.

Im happy to say I've changed a couple lives. Sure, I've lost some money, but I've been apart of some cool stuff the past couple of months that was worth the investment.

If someone would have loaned me $1000 when I first started importing products from China and gave me a couple of tips, I would have saved about 2 years of stress.
