Have You Ever Been to Bali?

What a co incidence. I'm in Ontario and I'm going to Bali this December for my honeymoon. Of the reviews that I read I preferred it over Mauritius...Seychelles and other islands for beauty...and value
Let me know how you like it! If you're still around, of course lol.

How do you plan on getting past the flight!?

I liked it. Great scenery, great weather, good nightlife and its cheap as chips. What more could you want?

I do e commerce so its more hassle but if I was content writing I'd be traveling SE Asia full time, you don't even need to worry about dodgy internet connections now and again all that much

Good point - living in Bali would probably be a godsend (considering I want to move to Toronto, and it costs like $2500 for a 2 bedroom-loft!!).

Bali sucks big times. Been there last year. Alcohol is expensive, not many hot girls there. Only good thing about bali is, it is a great place to surf a bit. That´s it

I spent 2 months in Thailand in 2002 and it was the greatest 2 months of my entire life. That whole area is very similar. Tons of tourist attractions. Stuff you will never see anywhere else in your life. Before I went I heard a million stories and didnt believe half of them. The reality was that all the stories did not come even halfway to how it was. It was amazing. Do it!

Honestly i'm not sure if Bali really worth it, when you need to fly 22 hrs. I've never been there, but unless you're interested in the country, their culture, i can imagine that pretty much any other tropical destination can offer (roughly) the same. You're a Canadian, so it would make more sense to travel to the Caribbean imho. Or depending on which coast is closer to you: Canary Islands, Madeira, Cape Verde, Hawaii.

But it's just a logical aspect, if you wanna go, then go. :)

Actually I'll be going to another country in Asia first straight from Toronto. I'll live there for 2 weeks or so. From there I'll be going to Bali. So the flight to the first country will be 18 hours and that could be a pain but it'll be worth it....I hope.

I don't get people. So flat. Are you guys only looking after girls alcool clubs nightlife and beaches? I mean really? So empty.

Why not see instead the REAL world? the ones without humans or with barely any?

At that point, anything would be great. You're in Canada! Head to Alaska! A lot of nice glaciers over there. Few hours at most.
Otherwise pretty much anywhere in the world. I've been to indonesia, Ireland, Norway, Holland, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, Galapagos Islands, a good chunk of africa.. Just google ancient stuff in X, or treks in X, or beatiful landscapes in X, or just landscapes in X... and go there. Fu** the flat and stupid things like alcool clubs and crowded beaches.

@for the guy above saying bali is better than mauritius or seychelles... you're crazy af.
Have been in all of those 3, and bali is the least UNLESS you're looking at a crowded shitty place to drink alcool.

Take it easy there champ. Why so serious? I said "as per the reviews I read"

Everyone has an opinion and no travel experience can be the same. No need to go all Kung Pow for no reason.

I went to Bali 2-3 months ago.
It was a bad time since humid was too high, I think from April to October are the best months to visit Bali. The humid these months are not too high.
Bali ppl or Balanies ( as I recall ) are too friendly and helpful.
Many activities everyday to do.
Some high rated resorts are a lot cheaper and the service is unbelievable. Comparing to expensive hotels.
When ever you want to buy something you must argue on the price :P
Only take tourists tours from kuta street, they are alot cheaper. They will ask for a high price at first, with little argue the price goes from 1,2 mill IDR to 500,000 IDR.
You must plan where you going to stay, since many activities need 1.3 to 3 hours by car. Bali is not that big island but due to its small and crowded roads, trips takes long time, I hated it when staying at car for 2 hours.

Whenever someone start a conversation with you by saying "Do you speak English", 99% he wants to scam you. Also, never use money exchange at kuta street unless its a bank or trusted place. Use google to read about the scams their.

Like many have said before, dont stay to long in kuta beach, i like ubud its close by and you can take the local bus or a taxy. Also gili Islands is nice to, but if you are on the main Island then try to book a hotel that's not to close to their moské atleast not if you like to sleep in the morning :)
