I want to go to Bali.. but I don't want to fly 22 hours into a destination of disappointment.

My friend and I have always wanted to go to Bali, and his father works for an oil company here in Ontario. He always gets sent out to Malaysia and stuff like that, and he told us that we should hit up Bali; he said it's cheap and relatively fun. I'm not going to sit here and tell you that I'm a party animal who's looking to get shitfaced - but I'd like SOME sort of craziness,

Have you been to Bali?

Did you like it?

Would you go back?

I'm from Canada, if that matters much! Feel free to talk about any other places you've visited and thoroughly enjoyed (or happen to live inside of, lol)

Not been to Bali but have heared many good things about it

You can add Thailand in your tour and have fun there (If incase you dont like Bali)

I do not know a lot about Bali., but surely ypu can visit Georgia, place where I live. For more you can check: Saqartvelo mtskheta, svaneti, martvili.

You can search for those keywords to see pictures on google.
Ask me anything you want... it is located on asia near the black sea

Because Georgia and Bali are exactly the same thing !!

I haven'nt been to Bali but I've been to a few of the other Islands off Singapore and Malaysia. Highly recommend it, Its beautiful down there. Better if you have a few quid to spend and can stay somewhere nice and get looked after.

From the official Bali website:

Travelers should keep in mind that prostitution is a big business in Bali, and that what may seem like innocent fun can sometimes turn into hassling or a demand for cash. Luckily, things are quite direct, so cautious visitors will easily be able to tell what they are getting themselves into in any situation. Note "Prostitution is illegal in Bali", however, like in many countries, everyone turns a blind eye, and prostitution is not necessarily a tourism related phenomena. Indonesian men who can afford it like to go to massage places regularly, asking for a massage with what they call: "Happy End". People don't get killed here in the red light district, Bali is not Mexico City, but some tourists wake up without their wallet or watches after their adventures, or with a transmitted disease that is difficult to get rid off and more difficult to explain once they are home.

It looks like a great place ;)

it's worth it , just come to bali, dont forget to come to Lombok or Raja Ampat

Yes Bali is my favorite place to visit. bali is a unique and beautiful place. It has many beautiful places to visit. I I've experienced some dreadful accommodation and food in Bali!

I went back in 99' and it hasn't changed much since then. It's basically a party destination for Aussies and Kuta is where all the filth takes places. Seminyak is more upmarket but the place is still crawling with tourists. It's similar to Thailand in terms of drunk tourists everywhere but I much prefer Thailand over Bali.

Been to Bali. A few random thoughts:
Don't expect calm ocean, it's for surfers, not swimmers. Kuta is a touristic shithole, not on the extreme side like Pattaya, but still, so find another town if you can, overall the island itself is very beautiful. Lots of Aussies surfers everywhere, some tourists from Europe. Food is good. Traffic is chaotic (but seen worse in other countries), had problems with simply crossing the road at peak time. Change money in banks only, don't fall for the better rates of private changers, this is scam. Use ATMs in banks only as well, as skimmers are widespread. Don't buy drugs, penalties are severe.

22 hours of flight is quite unpleasant thing (I had almost 24 hours flight to Bali with two intermediate changes) so if you can - just split your journey - fly to Japan or HongKong spend a couple of days there, then to Bali.

Overall I really enjoyed my stay there. Nice island, with the scent of flowers.

i was 3 weeks this year in bali

don't go there.
the beaches are grap
good hotels expensive
nightlife was manly hookers because it was out of season .... you will have australians when going there in the season.

bali is nothing special - i wanted to see it - but will not go back there, unless a girlfriend forces me to do so or you are a surfer. Because it has waves there but that is all which is good on the island.

I've stayed in Bali for 5 years and I love it there. You should definitely visit it. I usually avoid the downtown and stay in less crowded places like Ubud or Kambangan.

i'm sure you won't be dissapointed, Bali is very beautiful.
you would enjoy the whole trip if you like tanning or surfing or beach life.
the people are very nice and can speak english quite good (most of them).

You should go to Dreamland Beach (New Kuta) the beach is new and still beautiful.
There are a lot of new beaches nowadays that's very beautiful. (Padang-Padang, Pandawa, Karma Kandara)

Don't stay at hotels, search private villa, there are a lot private villa with swimming pool under $150 per night.
Stay at Seminyak which is great for the food and drinks.
Transportation are cheap. the price for renting a car per day is $20-40, for motorcycle its $4-7.

Highly recommend it, just don't stay too long at the mainstream tourist attraction (Kuta)

What a co incidence. I'm in Ontario and I'm going to Bali this December for my honeymoon. Of the reviews that I read I preferred it over Mauritius...Seychelles and other islands for beauty...and value

I heard you can fuck every night for $70 a week.

I liked it. Great scenery, great weather, good nightlife and its cheap as chips. What more could you want?

I do e commerce so its more hassle but if I was content writing I'd be traveling SE Asia full time, you don't even need to worry about dodgy internet connections now and again all that much
