Have you done seminars?

Hey guys,

Been a longtime lurker here, unfortunately don't have a whole lot of time to actively contribute.

So here's the rundown of what I am looking to do, I searched far and wide through the archives, and didn't turn up much.

I am a very talented speaker, and have presented to schools, businesses, and other venues. Partly to gain experience, because I truly enjoy it, and it has helped build my business. But I'd like to take it a step further.

I would like to conduct a seminar for small business owners/entrepreneurs and speak about direct response marketing.

Basically, I would like to deliver a killer presentation to business people for low or no cost and use that as a platform to put together a mastermind group and/or consulting clients.

Most of what i have encountered so far has been using seminars to land SEO clients, or get attendees to follow CPA offers, which are great ideas, but not what I want to do.

I've been to some of the free GKIC events, and they sucked. I KNOW I can do much better.

Basically, I would target small businesses, mostly in the service sector (gyms/trainers, chiros, dentists, massage, salon, etc.) I'm thinking a direct mail sequence + email+ phone call. Put on killer presentation( loads of value, actionable info, and motivation) at the end, a very cool, Kern-esque close to get people into the groups or offer a free consultation.

Objectives would be to build a list, book consultations, and start a legit business/marketing mastermind group.

I'd love to hear what some of you guys have done in the past. As I put this together, I will update with progress.

I know of people that do this very well that go global and i have seen quite training programs to learn how to do it. If you would like me to put you in contact with some of these i can introduce you.

A good obstacle to overcome would be figuring out which timeframe would yield good attendance as a lot of these business owners are quite busy.

It can work if you can pull off being an authority in the market. But you have to show people you are the man.
