Have you created your own ebook?

Has anyone here ever created their own ebook by rewriteing a public domain book?

Did you have success with it?

I have written 7 ebooks. Although, I never sold any of these 7 I just gave them away free. Yet I have had the opportunity to contribute to quite a few projects on Clickbank. I dont really say which ones and people that know about the contributions keep it to themselves as well. I've never truly rewritten a public domain book but I have taken articles from magazines and turned them into products in which I marketed and sold personally. Yes I have had success with these methods but not particular to public domain books. If you are going to write an ebook then your best bet is to focus around a problem/s and offer some way to solve them. The worse the problem is and the better your content is focused on dealing with it, the better your book will work for you.

And the best way to find out what bothers people is;

1. pick a niche

2. go to forums related to this niche

3. read the problems

4 read the the helpful answers/solutions to these problems

5 compile your info and write the book

6. sell it by applying all the usual promo stuff

This is the short way.

The long way is to be part of step 4, build an authority on the forums and sell your book on these forums.

creating our own digital products could be much better than doing aflliate marketing, because affiliate marketing is making someone else rich

'...I have written many eBooks, however, they were all original and not re-written from a public domain book.

That said, I am sure many phrases, thoughts and information were learned from previous publications and re-hashed in my books, as any author does.

For example, I might read: The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog. This is now stored in my memory. Later, when writing about a lazy dog I might paraphrase what I had remembered years previously and write: There was a lazy dog and a brown fox quickly jumped over him.

I have written 3 ebooks and sold around 500 copies. The cheapest ebook was $20. All on DP alone.

I wrote a book on dating But then got too lazy and never marketed it.Maybe i'll sell the rights to it.

Not yet, but I have 100+ pages of stuff ready to publish (.doc file), what's the best software to create the PDF? Is there one that will create a password too?

Ideally I'd like to just copy / paste and hand it over to my proofreader, any ideas?

Adobe Acrobat Reader Pro.What else?

openoffice will let you open the .doc and save it straight to pdf. and its free!

You can also check what other books have been written on this theme .. You can check out amazon.com , for some books they give you a chapter list , and one chapter or two for teasing .. and you can quickly identify what you need to write about.

Also check other book stores, related magazines (people pay for those too .. they even have subscriptions ,clickbank .. see which ebooks sell best in you category .. and borrow little bit of their approach ...
