Have you been effected by Youtube demonetization?

Ever since this drama with the Wall Street Journal and MSM attacking Youtube, lot's of channels have been demonetized.

Have any of you been effected, and if so have you get any information on what's going on? Are Youtube attacking certain niches, or?

A couple of my channels seem to have been demonetized. There's nothing too controversial on them, but there is some swearing and occasional talk about politics and current events.

The whole situation is a bit worrying... Was hoping some of you could shed some more light on everything if possible.

People think YouTube is an ATM.
YouTube will only pay you if an advertiser pays them, that's how the game works, if the advertiser leaves then game over.

If there were a few advertisers paying millions of dollars to YouTube and then they're gone, is obvious that YouTube total payouts quantity will be decreased and top channels that are driving millions of daily views will be first affecteds.
 
Yeah, obviously.

My point is not about people making less money on Youtube from monetized videos. I'm talking about YT demonetizing videos so that no ads are shown at all.

IMHO Youtube's demonetized strategy could have caused due the lost of big advertisers.
They have fear of YouTubers leaving them or find another alternatives to monetize their content because they can't pay the same rates as before.

To achieve this goal they added a higher entry barrier (min. 10k views + manual review to access to monetization) + demonetize some niches/channels.
 
Yeah, I mean, it's definitely been caused by the whole drama involving the advertisers. Youtube has been in a mess ever since, and I was wondering if anybody had any information on what the hell they're actually doing.

For example, I have videos that still say they're monetized, but when I take adblock of and check - no ads show. So I checked out some other Youtubers in similar niches, and no ads were showing on their videos either. So then I checked a whole other bunch of channels that I know are monetized, and same thing; no ads. But when I check the mainstream type channels such as the late night shows and pop music videos, ads are still showing.

Have you guys checked your videos without adblock to see if ads are actually running on your videos?
 
If you are doing video games it will still trigger the controversial political flag if you use the mission title or you put a description of the mission in the title. I have to apply for manual review on a few of the videos while others of the same game didn't get demonetized.

I've got exactly the same problem. Since the Youtube controversy my ad revenue has gone to about 10-20percent of what it was despite the fact I'm now getting more views.

And so I did the same where I watched my videos with adblock off and saw no ads, and no ads on my competitors (even one who gets six million views a month and has 160k subs!)

And when I look at Youtube analytics I see CPM isn't too low but "monetized playbacks" is low. I do have sexually suggestive videos and I think that Youtube now makes it so that advertisers have to say if they want to have ads on "sexually suggestive" videos. So this may not get resolved.

As a solution, I'm focusing on creating paid products, membership areas etc to start selling in the next month

Haven't started to go serious with it, I had a bunch of uploads but recent changes makes it rethink lot's of strategies and methods
