if you (or anybody else from BHW) are going here in RP, just start a thread and the Pinoys here in BHW would surely go out of their way to meet you up and help you out, point you to the safest places where you can have fun, etc.

i have a day job so my evenings would be free. my weekends are reserved for my family though :)

cities are cool if you want a fun night life. manila, makati, quezon city, cebu, davao, etc.

if you want beaches, nature trippin, we have lots of those too.

and yes prices are cheap as compared to western countries but comparable to other south east asian countries.

hotels can show you the safest and best places to go to if you ask.

i'm sure you're all familiar with "pretty women" hanging in hotel lounges looking for someone to buy them a drink. just ask the hotel bartender and they'll point you to the ones that are "available", for a price of course (if that's your idea of fun that is).

all in all, it's fun and relaxing here. transportation can be a pain if you don't have a car but a foreigner in shorts, tshirt and sandals commuting in the trains or jeeps is not uncommon. as with anywhere else, just always guard your valuables when you're out travelling :D

If you want to live ala "hermit" style, then the mountains are a great place to start, avoid the extreme south though, you are prone to be kidnapped by extremist in those areas.

Very nice pics dude, it really is a beautiful place, I like the idea of the hermit life hehe ;) but so far I've only seen the country from inside the urban sprawl of QC, I really need to get out there and explore...I want to go hiking in the mountains and down to the beaches...we have beaches back in Scotland, but they are icy cold lol.

Tru dat! I live in Kenya, have a house in Boston and travel a lot and its amazing how the media in America has potrayed what they call "third world countries". I only have thing in my agenda before thinking of a country. "Do you have high speed internet?"

Once that is clear, the rest is just details.

If you have a Filipino friend who's not a bloodsucker, $10,000 would be enough for a 5 months stay, that's if you're not really planning to go places. Add another $10,000 and you should have an enjoyable out of town trip twice a month.

whether its a 1st class or 3rd world country the important thing is the people that you will be with when you stay at place.

me and my friends drink 2-3 bottles of beer every night for $3. we dont spend that much everyday but hey were always having fun

if you could treat me 2-3 bottles of beer every night ill let you stay in my house for free LOL.

trust me you'll have more fun if you dont stay on expensive hotels, go for just ordinary house you will be treated like a king by your friendly neighbors . Just dont get to close to people to avoid being abused.
