hey guys. I'm curious about using hashtags if they "must" be in the post caption of the photo or they can be in the comment too? In the past I think hashtags in comments work but I'm not sure these days.

I don't want to make the IG post messy by putting a lot of hashtags in the photo caption. If it also works to put them in the comment, then I'll just do that.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Use them in captions, and if you don't want to make it ugly then give some line breaks after the caption text

Why not run a quick test?

Post to caption, confirm your image appears in the tag feed
Post to comment, confirm your image appears in the tag feed

Should take 1-2 minutes max.

I always recommend my clients to put them into caption...

What is the need of posting them in comment section?

You know for 100% they will work in your caption, why would you waste your time and try to put them into comment section?

Oh wait!

Because it looks ugly in caption...

Well then, write a fucking caption and do not put in it only hashtags with weak CTA... (maybe not OP's case)

I am tired of this...

Instagram's algorithm is changing like a crazy. One day they work in comment section, the other day not.

I really do not understand this...

*Edit*

Didn't read whole OP's thread, since i get emotional every single time i see this question.

If you are scared to not make it messy in caption,

After you write your whole caption, put under the text “Hashtag section” something similar, you can even use divider (how other people suggested) to make people know there wont be anything else.

You can put it in the comments. It works as good as in the caption. Even if you don't use all the 30 permitted hashtags and someone write a hashtag later in the comments that one start working as well.
