has twitter just made PV compulsory?

keep getting a phone challenge from any software/ip combo. Is phone verification compulsory now?

edit: just made an account on my VPS which I've never used for twitter and it said "Sorry, you are rate limited." which was weird?

Maybe they're rolling something out...

Phone verification is very important. If you do not do it then twitter will ask very soon to confirm phone in a day or two.

It is now, since then they've implemented the CALL Verification which is something really new. They're trying treat this seriously now.
