This has happened several times now for two of my domain names. I type the keyword into google and they show up on the first page. Then I literally just refresh the page or wait a few minutes and they're either completely gone nowhere to be found or end up somewhere on page 5-7. What does this mean?

When the "dance" is done, is my site going to end up on page 1 or pages 5-7 though?

I don't know that. Just keep building quality backlinks slowly and steadily, and sooner or later your rankings will settle.

How old are your websites? <1 month old, Google is deciding where to rank your website, and will give it lots of love (temporarily). >1 month old, Google has ranked you. Build backlinks to rise up through the SERPs, like everyone else here. Google dance only occurs when you've built enough backlinks to force Google to recalculate your rankings.

That's weird, actually. How long has this been happening for? How old is the website?

The problem is google recognizes your cookies so your page goes first. Open up a different browser without logging into google webmasters and youll see your rank. Goodluck!

are you doing constant backlinking keeping google penguin update in mind? A proper strategy is important in doing backlinking

Simple as that..clear your cache or check on a different machine

I noticed that when checkin my sites while logged into Google+. So I'm sure something with your ip is goin on.

Make sure you clear your cache and cookies or try another machine if you have one. I've noticed this before and when trying another machine it stopped doing it.
