Hey, guys, as the title already says, has IG gone wild again?
I was getting an average of 800-1000 likes with a 4000-5000 reach on my posts, but everything went halfway in the last 5 days. Now, maybe the audience did not appreciate my recent posts, I could live with that, but I couldn't understand why the reach has drastically gone.
That account was developed with no black hat method except the manual follow/unfollow , the niche is highly appreciated by the audience since I share beautiful photos of the city I'm currently living and the engagement is great. I've recently started a hashtag game, called #howwelldoyouknow.... (insert name of the city here), where I share an image of a place and let them guess where it is. I've literally heard people on the streets discussing my account and have tons of ideas how to expand it, but I'm concerned something is going wrong.
So if anyone has some idea what's going on, that would be great.

Are you posting different type of contents than your audience used to it?

I don't think so, as I previously said, I could live with the fact they did not appreciate the posts, but I think that's not the case.
I had a chat with a guy, recently hit 10k followers, who had to start all over again with a new account. His theory is that now Instagram shows your posts to only 10% of your followers and if they react well to it, and only then, it will reach the home page of the other 90%. How does that sound to you?

Are you using any blackhat methods? Botting?

Over the years that I have been involved with social media, this is something very normal that you will see happen from time to time, it's nothing to get worried about, you just have to adjust and find what works best and everything will still go on its Mary social way. One thing I have noticed is that social sites will tighten things up just to release things back to the way they where because there own implementations screw up there stats and piss normal users off.

What is the blackhat method may i ask? :D
I was talking about engagement groups, follow /unfollow with a bot, spamming comments everywhere and all those methods for growing your Ig that can be found here.

Yes, I observed this on several accounts to whom I was following. Some accounts were having more than 10k followers but their likes on posts are only 200-300 now a days. This matters a lot. This means those accounts were having fake followers but when when there was no change the likes were upto 1.5k. And which directly leads to the change of algorithms. I think they are blocking those account from explore page or from their own followers which are not getting a lot of engagement. No one knows exactly what it is but something is changed and which led the accounts to create more quality content.

That's exactly what I'm experiencing with my personal account, it grew up to almost 30k followers, but with the above mentioned blackhat methods. I understand why it's shadow banned, appears in no top posts, nor on hashtags. But my second account was carefully built and has no fake followers other than a free giveaway the other day, which boosted the acc with 300 followers. I consider taking a rest from all actions except the ones, that help me connect with the community and will make sure to post high quality and high engaging posts.

Had a 20k account with over 1.5k likes but now it struggles to hit 800 likes

That's what I'm talking about and the reason for that is that the reach has been limited. At least that's what I'm seeing from my analytics.

I have an account with more than 6000 followers, it was able to drive easyly 1000 like per post and sometimes way more, now it hardly get 500 per post, engagement become too "cold", i suspect some kind of strike...This happened exactly after a massive unfollow of my followers..

Yeah It fucking sucks. 7.5K here. Reach never gets to 3k. Doesnt make any sense.

What analytics do you use?

Using the Instagram analytics is enough to understand that the reach of my posts went halfway. Saw someone mentioning that he experienced the same after a massive unfollow, I'm not certain when I did that, but I'm more than sure I did it in the past week. So you think that's also one of the reasons?
