I've been doing iming to various degrees since before I was even a teenager. Over the years I have had lots of success in various things, but I always moved on way too quick. I am obsessed with chasing the new project. I will start 10+ projects in any given year. Some of them succeed, some of them I give up in a few days and just start for the novelty of starting something new and fun. It's not that this strategy doesn't work, it can and does quite often. However I am craving a project that I really dedicate myself to. One project that I build for years regardless of results. The issue is every project I start feels like that one until a week later when the novelty fades and I move onto whatever else pops up in my racing mind. Has anyone ever overcome this workstyle? When you come up with that project do you know, or do you just pick one and run with it even if it feels unnatural?

It is difficult especially for creative and ambitious people. Basically being ambitious can backfire at this point if you want too much at the same time.

I had this problem too. Still have it sometimes.

Here is how I deal with it:

Make a list of things that you are working on. Give them all a priority level and make a ranking. I am working for a 3 hours on one project, then work 2 hours on another project, etc. you can also make it with days. Three days per week for one project, rest of the week for two other projects.

I hear ya! Sometimes I buy more domains then groceries!
Me too, just last week, I tried to remember all the domain name I bought this year and I couldn't most of them.

But to answer OP, I overcame that way of working by keeping a daily to-do list that I've been using since 2016. And I refocus myself from time to time by asking mysekf my goal toward my project and by writing it down. I take action in regard of my goals and I set deadline to each task. I keep it tight to keep the adrenaline rushing. You know to keep things exciting.
P.s : I launched 2 journeys here and I failed to update them but that doesn't mean I quit. Nooo ! I pursued each one lf them and they're bought successful. So yes, SOS (shiny object syndrome) can be overcame.

Suffering from the same issue as well but I am now mature in resolving and making it work thinking of the end goal. Getting better at it every year.

you have to learn to be patient,
take your time to actually plan and imagine a lifetime project (let's say for a couple of years at least),
make your research and stick to the plan and you'll get it work at the end

I think you just need to get some more discipline. Making a project successful is hard work, not matter what method you use. Everyone will be at least a bit bored by their project at one point, but some people keep going with it, while others give up. Guess who are more likely to be successful..

PS. I bet that the interest in the project will return once you start seeing results from it. That's a huge motivational factor for most people, but it is hard work getting to that point.

Nothing wrong with it. You are experimenting, it's learning a wide range of knowledge.

You are building the foundation to your golden project, whichever that will be.

If I didn't get hit with shiny object syndrome, I would of never dived in to SEO. And if I never dived into SEO, I wouldn't of been able to use it for the rest of my projects. You are building some valuable knowledge with shiny object syndrome, trust me.
