Has anyone used freelancer?

I have used freelancer before, its been working fine for me.
But that was also only small projects. But its important to
be clear and concise. Because many of the programmers,
come from India, and its not always they fully understand
what you are trying to tell them. So make it simple.

To be honest guys.. I think a lot of you have got it wrong. I hired 3 unexperienced freelancers from there for small projects (around $50).. added them on Skype, kept the best one and have been working with him for almost 8 months, have paid him around $500-$1000 since, when I needed his help, but always outside of Freelancer.com.

Its a great place to find freelancers, but once you've found a good one, just work independently, of course in the end Freelancer loses because everyone just links up on skype and short circuits them. I haven't had any experience freelancing there though, that is probably a different story.

I've used freelancer once for a small programming job - $60 worth I think. Results were very good and didn't encounter any issues. Just make sure whichever freelancer you are going to use has good reviews.

You will find the same users registered on Freelancer, Elance and Odesk (there is no point in saying that the one registered at Freelancer are not at odesk or elance). But the rate of scamming at Freelancer is much higher. If you move carefully, you can find great and not just good workers there. It all comes on how easy it is to fool one.

Freelancer is a website "For the Donkeys, by the Donkeys and of the Donkeys". This is my personal experience.

I was a member of ScriptLance for 6 years before it was bought out by Freelancer.

I've got 70+ 10/10 reviews so it annoyed me when I tried to withdraw $300 I kept getting "insufficient funds" error.

Had to send a bunch of emails to the support staff, after they mentioned that it's not possible to withdraw funds you deposit in (for example if you decide to hire someone else). What happened in my situation is we canceled the project after the freelancer couldn't deliver, and then Freelancer.com wouldn't give me back my money.

After hassling a bunch of people and googling "Freelancer scam" I eventually got email addresses of people who could make this right.

Long story short I got my money back, and I will still use Freelancer simply because of my established tenure. But beyond that I wish ScriptLance was still around...

I have had a couple of jobs from Freelancer but a number of others also were scams. I gave up using those bidding sites because the bids are so low and I got very few jobs from them. I figured there are better ways to get clients.
