Well Seo Lover,
What you are telling is simply not true.
I just posted 5 articles on different blogs yesterday and the process is really simple.
You need to contact the blog owner and ask him whether he accepts any guest blog posts, and if you get the green signal from him/her, you can go ahead and send the article over.
However, the most important thing is that the article must be unique and must not contain any grammatical/spelling errors.
I just wanted to ask people's opinion over here because I am curious as to what kind of results it will produce for me.
I am talking about High PR and Home Page Posts

Guestblogging is great, if they ever get back too you. I have 10 articles ready to roll, contacted like 10 unique websites... haven't heard anything back in a week...
Very hard to get anything published.... I've got a couple published on PR2-4 blogs.. Just very time consuming.... and waiting for them to reply to your email...
Best link method out there right now as far as quality.

Yeah thats the thing that 70% you will not be replied by Blog owners , so this is too time consuming .
Now a days alot of Private Blog Network owners sells posts in damn low prices
So why waste time on guest posting , simply buy posts on Private Networks

Its really not that tough,
I did my first guest blogging attempt yesterday and I was fairly successful in sending articles to different blogs.
I used this website -> http://buyblogreviews.com/
for finding blogs in my niche.

Nowadays, its all about relevancy.
When it comes to guest blogging, Getting Contextual links is the main goal as backlinks from relevant sites are far better than the links from private blog networks.

We are not talking about Private Blog Networks here.
Private Blog networks and guest blogging are 2 different things.
The first one is spammy, but it works to some extent.

hmm... I guest blog on a few websites. I do see some nice gains from time to time, but personally I'd rather just revert to my spammy ways to raise rank. lol.

Guest blogging is the "age old" method to get those links flowin'. The only drawback you run into is running out of sites to post on (if you're doing 1 per site, not just 4/month per site, etc).
It can work if you get good sources and/or decent volume across multiple sites. I've had good experience even just doing 10-15 posts/month on different sites for a newer sites, but for more established ones you'll need more to budge it obviously.

You can get good traffic if you target relevant niches to your own. It helps if you build a relationship with blog owners, so it's not just a one-off thing.
Also, if you can write or outsource great content then your job of getting accepted by a blog owner is a good deal easier.

I have never done it personally, but last month 2 different guys contacted me with the proposal too write article for one my blog, if they can have link to their website on it.
I said yes and both guys delivered a good (600+ words) article. So I posted it, why not? I think we should help each other.
Their sites were quality stuff related to my niche (none stupid MFA sites), so I mean, it's a win win situation - I got free article, they got link and visitor got better experience.

I don't really like the idea of guest blogging. Why would you create a post for other people blog ? Well, except if the PR of the blog is really high. It might work.

that's very shortsighted. Why do you build links? To get rankings...why do you want rankings? To get traffic! Well if you post to a quality blog with *gasp* actual readers then guess what? You not only get pr and a backlink from a non spammy source you MIGHT actually get some traffic too!

That's all I do for my clients is guest blogging. It's the only link tactic that will withstand the test of time from my point of view. It's a great way to get good links. Then, I spam the hell out of those guest blogs to juice 'em up. Instead of using Web 2.0's as my first tier, I use Guest blogs.
