Matthew Woodward recently published a case study on AI-generated content, and it's not looking good.
First of all, he highlighted the point that Google is on the record as being against AI-generated content.
Google's guidelines consider such content "low-value content."
As ChatGPT's popularity soared, it has also become widely known for its accuracy issues.
This is a major sticking point with Google.
It's anybody's guess when or even if Google will roll out an anti-AI update.
Once that happens, it's going to be an arms race.
Just like with anything else that Google does (especially when it comes to backlinks), people looking to get free traffic from Google will always find a workaround.
This definitely will apply to AI-generated content.
The question is if you're going to play this game, do you have the proper resources?
The churn-and-burn game in SEO is no joke.
You have to have a lot of domains. You have to have a lot of WordPress installations.
It really all boils down to putting up so many sites that even if Google penalizes the vast majority of your network, you still have enough sites up and pulling enough traffic that you can finance the next wave of domains and websites you put up.
It's a never-ending game.
I would suggest that if you don't want to play that kind of game or you don't have much resources, to begin with, comply with Google's Webmaster Guidelines.
